Ever wonder what's actually in your kids' clothing?
Most conventional cotton is grown with pesticides. Fabrics are treated with formaldehyde to resist wrinkles. Dyes contain heavy metals. And the people making these clothes? They're often exposed to all of it.
We started Fig For Kids because we couldn't find basics that were truly clean—from the field where the cotton grows to the factory where it's sewn. So we built our own supply chain, with partners who care as much as we do about doing things right.
Here's how we do it.
It Starts with GOTS-Certified Organic Cotton
All of our clothing is made from Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified cotton. That's not just a fancy label—it's an internationally recognized certification that tracks our clothing from organic fiber to finished product.
GOTS ensures that every step meets strict environmental and ethical standards. No harmful chemicals. Fair labor practices. Transparent supply chains. It's how we know our clothes are both responsible and high-quality.
Why organic cotton matters:
- Uses significantly less water than conventional cotton
- No toxic pesticides that pollute water sources or harm farming communities
- Better for the planet and the people who grow it
- Incredibly soft, durable, and fully compostable
Our organic cotton isn't just sustainable—it's built to last through everything your kids put it through.
We're Pushing for Bigger Change
Sustainability isn't just about the products we make. It's about the systems we're working to change.
We've committed 1% of every Fig For Kids purchase to efforts that push for stronger regulations around toxic chemicals in manufacturing. Through our partnerships with 1% for the Planet, we're contributing to policy reform that puts health and safety first—for your kids, for the families who make our clothes, and for the communities where cotton is grown.
Our Partners Share Our Values
Packaging: Noissue
All of our packaging is compostable, recyclable, or reusable. No exceptions.
Manufacturing: Ecovest (Portugal)
Our manufacturer uses photovoltaic panels for energy, electric and hybrid vehicles for transport, and recycles or reuses all remaining materials from production. Their entire process is designed to minimize environmental impact—from the machinery they use to how they manage energy consumption.
The Bottom Line
Ethical production and sustainability aren't trends for us. They're foundational values that guide every decision we make—from the cotton we choose to the partners we work with to the causes we support.
We believe doing things the right way matters. And we're proud to make it easier for families to support a healthier, safer world.
Because when you choose responsibly made clothing, you're not just buying basics. You're voting for the kind of world you want your kids to grow up in.
